(08.05.2019) For the solar electric car Sono Motors Sion there are already 10,000 reservations, the reservers correspond to a turnover of 214 million euros.
As the mobility provider Sono Motors announced today, the company already has 10,000 paid reservations across Europe over a year before the start of production. This means that the number of potential buyers for the first series-produced SEV (Solar Electric Vehicle) has doubled since June last year. Around 87 percent of these reservations are in the DACH region, with a total of more than 20 countries worldwide. The vast majority of those interested in buying are private individuals and non-commercial customers or distribution partners.
In addition to price, reach and charging infrastructure, the biggest hurdles of electromobility in the perception of consumers, the forward-looking concept of SEV addresses above all the topics of climate and resource protection as well as the necessary reduction of vehicles. Since 2017, around 79 million new vehicles have been registered worldwide every year. With integrated standard-style sharing options, a Sion can potentially replace an average of 15 cars, making a significant contribution to solving this problem.
The electric car Sono Motors stands for climate-friendly and sustainable mobility
Jona Christians (CEO and founder of Sono Motors) says:
"With the reservation of the Sion, ten thousand people have set a clear signal for climate-friendly and sustainable mobility. The desire for a responsible use of our environment connects us with these people. We stand for a world in which every vehicle is electrically driven and shared. That's the vision that drives us ".
The idea of joining in with other changes is inextricably linked to Sono Motors. The company continues to enable the community to participate in the company through Crowdinvesting and, hence, the growth and success of Sono Motors. Community feedback replaces traditional market research and flows into vehicle development. In addition, prospective buyers in community voting will have the opportunity to decide on the design features and features of the vehicle, including the vehicle and rim color, charging options or the number of seats in the vehicle. On Europe-wide test drive tours interested parties could experience the first prototypes of the Sion up close and get to know Sono Motors in direct exchange.
The electric car is manufactured by SAAB's successor National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) in Sweden. Production will be entirely based on renewable energy and should start in the second half of 2020.
