So comes the top F40 with 306 hp

The most dynamic version of the new BMW 1 Series F40 brings a well-known shortcut to the tailgate: On September 28, 2019, the new BMW M135i xDrive celebrates its market launch, turning its name on its head. Were it formerly balanced weight distribution, a longitudinally mounted inline six-cylinder and rear-wheel drive, M135i 2019 stands for a transversely mounted four-cylinder and four-wheel drive.

We were already able to experience that this combination can inspire on the racetrack a few months ago in Miramas – right behind an M2 Competition. And the announcements made at that time are still striking: The lap times of the new BMW M135i should be on par with the M140i xDrive of the predecessor generation F20. And he recently showed the main competitor from Affalterbach where the dynamic driving hammer hangs.

The new BMW M135i 2019 is powered by the BMW Group's strongest series-production four-cylinder engine to date. The Top-B48 generates 306 hp from 5,000 to 6,250 rpm and the maximum torque of 450 Newton-meter is available between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm. The power is always portioned by an eight-speed automatic, which supports the start of the state by launch control.

Under optimal conditions, the M135i xDrive should accelerate from standstill to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds. As of November 2019, an optional M Performance package will be available, to which BMW reveals no details yet – but the time for the sprint is to be reduced by another tenth of a second to 4.7 seconds. Responsible for this could be the use of particularly strong sports tires.

So that the BMW M135i 2019 is not just straight-ahead fast, the developers have stiffened his body additionally. The all-wheel drive xDrive sends up to 50 percent of the power to the rear axle and switches the latter already before the front wheels have a traction problem. A mechanical Torsen differential lock on the front axle and the active wheel slip limitation ARB additionally improve the traction when accelerating out of corners.

From a purely visual standpoint, the M135i stands out with its double-kidney with mesh front instead of classic struts, accents in Cerium Gray and beveled 100-millimeter tailpipes from the series. Apart from these details also weaker 1er with M sport package can be brought on a similar optical state. In the first photos we see the top model in Misanoblau, which replaces the previous M color Estoril blue:
