An SUV is suitable for those who prefer to take it easy, so the opinion of many. Meanwhile, most manufacturers have now also athletic offshoot their high-legged journeymen at the start. Honda now sends the H-RV Sport on the road. Does the SUV, which promises its geschichte optics?
The Honda HR-V is decidedly sporty. The look was trimmed with new slips and numerous high-gloss black parts such as side skirts and chrome buckles on the front and rear sports. In addition there is full LED light as standard. And the looks do not fumble: The roads around Lisbon invite you to begett the accelerator a bit more forcefully. Immediately the direct response of the new 1.5-liter VTEC turbo petrol pump is noticeable. Together with the revised suspension with the mechanical damper control "Synaptic Damping Control" (SDC), which ensures better handling. In addition, the HR-V Sport is equipped with special body dampers, which are also designed to provide more rigidity and driving stability – "Performance Damper" technology at Honda.
The manual six-speed transmission can be switched precisely and fits well with the sporty SUV. A little better than the ordinary 7-speed CVT transmission, which is to be purchased for 1,300 euros extra. Honda expects that 70 percent of German customers will opt for the handset.
With the 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine under the hood, which delivers 134 kW / 182 hp, HR-V drivers are well-equipped for all situations and for any route that focuses on driving pleasure and not on pure locomotion. Direct steering and the suspension, which offers a great compromise between comfort and streamlined design, are the right ingredients. All that is needed is the engine noise optimized by the sound generator, which is unpleasant at high speeds. The noise reduction with improvements, among others in the doors and the wheelhouses, in turn, has an effect: at 120 km / h on the motorway, the new one proves to be a flamer.
The interior is much less playful than you would expect from Honda. Anyone who chooses leather upholstery will get a black-and-red interior that suits the athletic demands. Plus points the Honda collects in material quality and processing. The Japanese carmaker has done a very good job here. Shortcoming is the GPS, which does not always perform its service satisfactorily. Here, Honda should rally the HR-V technically.
With 470 liters of luggage capacity with folded up and 1,103 liters with folded back seats, the HR-V is also without compromises long-distance and travel suitable. In addition, the "Magic Seats" are on board: so even bulky cargo can be stowed behind the front seats. How it works? The seats on the rear bench are completely foldable upwards and are locked there with one hand. The consumption of 7.9 liters in brisk gait on winding and mountainous country roads and a short trip on the highway is not objectionable. With Migung can certainly easily save 1.0 to 1.5 liters. But do you want to be in a sporty SUV? The new HR-V Sport does not make it easy.
