He has long been part of the usual street scene: the Mitsubishi Space Star. In the class of micro cars, he is now a proven size with now about six years. Once, because he is comparatively very spacious. And then Mitsubishi kept updating him over the years. With quite positive effects.

In any case, the test car of the Motor Information Service (mid) could not afford to think about a waiver in the mini-segment given its complete equipment. In his only 3.80 meters was pretty much everything packed, what the Japanese for the Space Star have to offer. Finally, he rolled in the equipment version Top and with the additional extra package for 1,100 euros, the about 15-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, DAB + radio, LED indicators in the exterior mirrors, LED parking lights, automatic climate control, fog lights and a smart-key system including start-stop button. Any questions?

On the positive side, moreover, not only the exterior was much more chic during the last facelift of the little one. Even inside, the designers put their hands on and packed about chrome and piano paint applications on the multifunction leather steering wheel, better readable instruments and a higher-resolution display into it – it all looks pretty grown-up and no longer kleinwagenmig.

In addition there are the long-haul front seats and the good space for two in relation to the overall size of the Japanese, and the still quite good for three passengers on the back seat. The space for the elbows and over the head is well-measured, anxiety is not an issue. The usual variable trunk is with 209 to 881 liters capacity for the Kleinstwagenklasse in order. And the service is what you want it to be: straightforward and easy to understand.

The mid-test car was powered by the stronger of the two offered three-cylinder petrol engines, which brings it from 1.2 liters to 80 hp. The engine runs smoothly, produces the typical three-way sound and makes it possible for a car of this size to achieve sufficient performance. With some patience you can reach on the highway also the highest speed of 180 km / h, on 100 is the Space Star in 12.7 seconds. The five-speed manual gearbox is matched to the engine characteristics.

The test person was conspicuously genius in the test – with 5.2 liters of super per 100 kilometers, he was only slightly above the figures for the standard consumption. Also important: The 2019er models are long since designed for September of this year applicable Euro 6d-Temp emissions standard.

And how does he lead himself, the bonsai Asian? Apart from the somewhat too soft designed steering, there is nothing to cringe at the Space Star. He can safely and happily circling through curves, offers befesgemen comfort and at medium speeds also acoustically very restrained. Very pleasant in everyday life is the turning circle of only 9.2 meters – which helps with the snarl in the city as well as when parking. Not only ladies will appreciate the seat heating. And pleasant ingredients such as rain sensor, automatic tempo or the very effective hill start help ensure that the passengers do not feel like in a micro car.

The price list for the Space Star starts at marketing-related 9,990 euros, the tested 1.2-liter version in the Top equipment costs from 14,290 euros, as extras Mitsubishi has the metallic finish (490 euros) and the installed extra package for 1,100 Euro to offer.

Conclusion: The Mitsubishi Space Star is a pleasant companion through the car's everyday life, especially in city traffic, he enters sympathy points, but not disappointed on the longer tour.

A look at the technical data is enough to make car fans happy: V8 small block with 6.2 liters, 333 kW / 453 hp, maximum torque of 617 Newton meters, rear-wheel drive – American could the inner values of this sports car well hardly be.

Of course, this also applies to the design of the current Camaro, which can be described as brutal without exaggerating. The sports car is edged, the long bonnet ends abruptly without tilting towards the road surface. It seems that the goal here was to create a front view that would fill out the entire rear-view mirror of the vehicle in front, even if there were still several hundred meters between the vehicles. Chevrolet is clearly in the Camaro on physical presence – fans of discreet performances are certainly not warm with him.

If you get into the Camaro, experienced a positive surprise. The days of cheap hard plastic are over. The interior seems upbeat, and the quality testers at the American carmaker have done a decent job – which one may assume in a car for about 50,000 euros but also. When it comes to connectivity, there is nothing to complain about, a high-resolution 8-inch central screen displays information such as navigation data, features and infotainment features and is the control panel for the MyLink infotainment system. Also standard is the smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The pressure on the start button then causes finally for trepidation, the V8 howls briefly, then he falls into a bubbling, which gives an idea what will happen when pedaling on the accelerator. Then the pony car becomes a stallion, even without a wild horse in the logo. The Camaro struggles vehemently forward, only at 290 speed is over. The six gears can be switched through smoothly – and offer the most driving pleasure, if one ausreizt the respective speed range. This is noticeable in the consumption, 15 liters of the Camaro gnnt at brisk driving style, which is not unusual in its performance data.

Amazing: The Camaro can be moved quickly and accurately on winding roads, although the first impression gives the feeling of moving quite a chunk. This lightness one does not trust the sports car from the USA at first. When downshifting, the active speed adjustment supports "Active Rev Match" with automatic and perfectly fitting intermediate gas.

The Recaro performance bucket seats, available for an additional € 1,900, make this grumbling Ami feel like he's a made-to-measure – not a fine Milanese twist, though, rather the superhero Iron Man. That fits.

On March 6, 1989, the engine information service (mid) reported in the 44th year on the Honda Gold Wing GL 1500 in the field test.

Oh man – there it stands: The Honda Gold Wing GL 1500. A car on two wheels. A super or bertourer. Whatever you call them, the Gold Wing instantly evokes emotions that go either "over-unusable" or "travel-pleasure-super comfort". Alone this look! Plastic wherever you look, from the bulky full fairing to the covered front brake or the integrated panniers to the top case. The thick tires, the pompous upholstered seat and the wide handlebars form only a weak contrast.

Also, the drive is, apart from the valve covers and the elongated exhaust pipes, not much to see. The 74 kW / 100 hp power plant works in secret. No less than six cylinders arranged according to the boxer principle provide for the enormous displacement of 1,520 cc. The e-starter brings it to life spontaneously. And immediately it comes to light how calm and vibration-free the water-cooled unit stored in rubber blocks air. During the short warm-up phase, it may happen that you want to drive off after a traffic light stop and the transistor-ignited machine went out unnoticed. Unrivaled 150 Nm at just 4,000 rpm, the two-valve balances as maximum torque on the crankshaft. Between increased idle speed and red range – ie between 2,000 and 6,000 crankshaft revolutions – everything is there: strong torque, elasticity, clean throttle response. And the whole thing with a very subtle exhaust sound and largely vibration-free, so that there is always the impression of a highly cultivated sovereignty.

It is therefore hard not to be calm and relaxed on the road. Nevertheless, just seven liters flow as average gasoline consumption (normal unleaded) through the two carburettors, a consequence of the high weight and the large wind area. The 23-liter tank is thus good for about 300 kilometers of range, the fuel gauge certainly gives us useful information. The power transmission takes over a hydraulic clutch to be switched Fnfgang gearbox, which is characterized by short shift travel and successful gear gradation. As a technical highlight, but also as a commendable help with maneuvers, the machine has a starter-assisted reverse gear. A big lever is tucked behind the fairing and the Honda moves to e-starter pressure backwards with a maximum speed of 1.6km / h. The engine side is rounded off by the low-maintenance (hydraulic valve setting) and the easy-care shaft drive.

Praise also deserves the suspension of the new Gold Wing. Unlike previous Gold Wing models, it can not only satisfy pure touring needs. Safe straight-line travel up to a top speed of around 190 km / h. The crosswind sensitivity is within relatively narrow limits. The manageability of the 385 kilogram colossus surprised, only he has to roll once. Supertourer-fair spoil the spring elements – 41 mm fork and two struts rear – the crew with a lot of comfort. By means of air pressure compressor (with external connection for tires and air mattress), the suspension can be adapted to the load and the road conditions. Bumps on low-level lanes pose little problem for the gimbal machine, which also has sufficient Schrglagen reserves in curves. After some offense, you also lose the fear of pass rides.

The seating positions are exceedingly comfortable, although the German version of the US version with the high fairing and the padded giant top case has to accept. The sozia, because she can not lean her back on the flat top case and the driver, because he is exposed behind the nonsensically capped (but TV-fair) disc at higher tempos unpleasant turbulence. Unpleasant is – of course only in summer temperatures – and the heat behind the full paneling, which can hardly be mitigated by various ventilation openings. Otherwise, the equipment can inspire. A high-quality hi-fi deck, hazard warning lights, an on-board air pressure compressor and a digital clock in the clear instrument cockpit are just a few highlights. The large panniers have inside pockets. Unfortunately, only flat objects fit into the top case. If desired, cruise control maintains a set speed between 50 and 130 km / h until the driver brakes, hitches or takes gas. Speaking of brakes: Here an Integral brake system (the brake lever activates the rear and left front disc of the three-disc system) performs its service. And to the full satisfaction. 22,800 DM is the price for the roadworthy Honda Super-Tourer GL 1500 Gold Wing.

Old schoolers of today know him, the former nightmare: At some point it will end with fossil fuels, and then what? The latest electric rescue before the horror scenario is called Zero SR / F and comes from California. Whether it is attractive not only for technology nerds, but also for classic bikers, the test shows.

In 1979, I was panicked by bad news: By the year 2000, the USA's oil reserves had been used up, according to the supposedly well-founded black painting of a teacher at the Gymnasium. But today it is clear that global fossil fuels are much longer than they were around 40 years ago. At the same time, there are attractive alternatives to the burner, especially in motorized two-wheelers. The latest end to the old nightmare of no longer possible mobility is Zero SR / F: A purely electric naked bike that brings hyper-agile driving pleasure – and novel, of course.

New and unusual is much on the Zero, whose model name SR / F is derived from the term "Streetfighter": Sporty-agile undisguised motorcycles for the highest possible driving pleasure. Particularly unusual is the elemental acceleration: The electric driving force is more impulsive than any combustion bike. Reason: The brute force of 190 Nm of torque catapults the only 220 kg heavy motorcycle horizon. This is probably the greatest driving dynamics of electromobility on two wheels: The Z-Force 75-10 AC motor of the Zero SR / F is always incredibly brilliant to the factory.

This sheer unbounded power is kept in check by fine electronics, most notably the Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) and cornering ABS. The technique is responsible for Zero Abe Askenazi, formerly Buell. He obviously had an eye on which components are used for the new top model SR / F. So come suspension / damping front and rear of Showa and are fully adjustable. And the production tires Pirelli Diablo Rosso III contribute to the perfect road layout of the electric bike.

Up to date is the SR / F in connectivity. An app is connected to the motorcycle via Bluetooth and displays important vehicle data as well as nearby charging stations. Unfortunately, you have to wait a bit for a connection to the navigation of the smartphone, but it will soon point the way to the goal on the large TFT display. Both the monitor and the app, you can choose the driving modes "Street", "Sport", "Eco" and "Rain". Ten additional individual modes allow variable performance and recuperation (ie storage of braking energy).

First driving impression with the SR / F: engine noise you do not really miss. Even fans of crisp boxer, shrill four-cylinder or rumbling V2 sound perceive a strange silence, but then notice quickly: That's why you enjoy all the more the impulsive acceleration. He is exposed on the emission-free Stromer, as once Baron Mnchhausen on the legendary cannonball. There may be motorcyclists who can not get used to the lack of engine sound, but you should test this for yourself in an electric – and perhaps electrifying – test drive.

The combination of a new e-motor and 14.4 kWh lithium-ion batteries offers more coverage than electric skeptics fear: nominally comes the SR / F in the city 259 km far, in combined use 157 km. In the practical test it was 143 km range. That may sound pretty, but for this motorcycle class is not a big problem, because for long tours, there are other bikes.

Next good news: Above all, the 22,690 euro expensive premium model with 6 kW fast charging system is ideally charged in one hour from 0 to 95 percent, to 100 percent, it only takes another 30 minutes. Worst case with the 20,490-euro standard Zero SR / F (3 kW charging system) on a household socket: Four and a half hours from completely empty to 100 percent full batteries.

In general, the Zero SR / F leads like a typical Streetfighter: Spur and curve hungry. Thanks to its narrow width, you can weasel through narrow passages in the city traffic. And always enjoys the characteristic spurt orgies with the electric bike. You sit in more than on the bike. And despite the short wheelbase, the distance to the handlebar is generous.

If you consider the SR / F prices from 20,490 euros for extremely high, you should remember: When torque is not even a KTM 1290 Super Duke R (16,595 euros) with the Zero. The lies with 190 Nm clearly in front of the KTM with "only" 141 Nm. Even a 18,430 euro expensive Ducati Monster 1200 R does not keep up with its 126 Nm. In addition, the thrust of the gasoline engine only builds up with increasing speed, the much greater power of the zero is from 1 / min fully on. The bottom line is that not even three months delivery time will deter you from giving the Zero SR / F a chance – even if you stay with the powerful petrol engine after the first test drive.

Can it be a little less Lexus ES? Toyota dares at the interface with the upper middle class with an old name a new attempt: The Camry is back. The model name had disappeared in Germany in 2004 in the sinking, although the Camry on the world market in 100 countries trumpeted strong.

After all, rolled since the launch in 1982 in seven generations 19 million copies to customers. The similarities to the more expensive Lexus ES, the sister model of the new Camry, are eye-catching: the identical to the horsepower hybrid, almost congruent Mae and the body concept as a four-tone notchback sedan.

Toyota knows that the criteria that work well in many markets are no guarantee of success in Germany. And why does the Japanese automobile giant dare try anyway? Mario Khler, the fleet customer manager, often mentions the taxi industry in his explanations. No wonder, because since the dawning of the diesel discussion more and more taxi companies in the conurbations are switching their fleet to hybrid vehicles. A success number for Toyota. Khler: "In Berlin meanwhile every fourth taxi is a Toyota Prius."

On top of that. Khler expects that of the Camry from the beginning of August, about 80 percent will be extended to business customers. Not necessarily for larger company fleets but more for independent business people who are rarely on the long haul. This clientele does not have the big thirst for performance, which can not be satisfied by the Camry anyway. He can only play his strength in a driving profile in which dominates the proportion of city driving: there scores the hybrid with low fuel consumption. So it's not surprising that the newcomer will not trigger a mass movement in the highway limousines. And that's why marketing for 2020 in Germany calculates only 1000 Camry.

The design of the Camry does not ride off the stool. If you mask the Toyota emblem and ask for the brand, few candidates would come up with the right answer. Is the Japanese stamped with it as a replaceable all-star car? Not necessarily, because the special design of the hybrid drive bears clearly Toyota's signature: A 2.5-liter petrol engine without turbo works with an electric motor, the result of their cooperation is paid via CVT to the front axle. Since the electric motor does not take on a boost function when accelerating from low speeds, the continuously variable automatic transmission spontaneously actuates the maximum speed when pausing to accelerate, in order to remain there. It sounds the engine rather geqult happy. One reason why the CVT transmission is often jokingly referred to as "heulomatik".

But thanks to the lower weight compared to the Lexus ES, the Camry does not look as seductive as its luxury brother, even though it does not mutate into a driving temperament bolt. Those who are not among the dedicated drivers and do not even try to be dynamic with the Camry, but is rewarded with a respectable low consumption: We reached the gemchlichen gliding on the country roads on the Croatian Adriatic coast around Split a consumption of 4 , 8 l per 100 km. This must make every cost-conscious taxi entrepreneur thoughtful.

Also potential taxi passengers in the rear of the Camry can be thrilled. Because the legroom of Hinterbnkler corresponds more to the business than the economy class. Also, the build quality of the interior materials leaves a good impression, although Toyota is very careful not to reach the higher level of the Lexus. The chassis tends in the comfortable direction and thus also emphasizes that the Camry wants to have rather little to do with athletic movement.

The equipment looks quite complete even in the Business Edition and leaves in the executive version hardly any wishes open. Why the available head-up display, of which we could convince ourselves in the Belgian test car, just not offered in Germany, is one of those secrets with which marketing managers in the auto industry sometimes surprise their customers. Presumably, when creating the price list again for every euro (Business: 39,900 euros, Executive: 42,390 euros) haggled. This meaningful detail in the middle class has long been standard, even a Mazda 3 from a vehicle class lower can optionally come up with it.

But maybe the head-up display in taxi driver circles is rather tatty. Fleet manager Khler hurry to announce that the taxi package with a sharp calculated surcharge on the cent will cost exactly 1773.10 euros. Now it remains to be seen whether the taxi operator wants to differentiate from his employed drivers, who he sends with the Prius, by the larger car and decides not for the Mercedes S-class but for the frugal Camry.

Mario Khler gets his eyes shining when he says that around 60,000 taxis are registered in the Federal Republic of Germany, of which 15,000 are purchased each year. He would have liked to send the specialist journalists in Split with Camrys in the taxi set to send a signal.

Super strong, super fast, super on the ground: The Jaguar F-Pace SVR combines features that seem incompatible. The top version of the big SUV of the British luxury brand was now in the French Maritime Alps, the honor.

To get to the 1700 meter high Mont Lachens in the French department of Var by car, you can take a narrow but well-developed forest road with a seemingly endless number of hairpin bends. Or, from the small village of La Roque-Esclapon, you can work your way up a stony, washed-out path that balances constantly on a steep slope.

Only something for Gelndegnger, like the Jaguar F-Pace SVR. The top version of the F-Pace, with which Jaguar 2016 entered the booming market of the SUV, has no problems with its 405 kW / 550 hp V8 petrol engine to master the inclines, with the All Surface Progress Control (ASPC ), the driver safely walks past dangerous spots (previously identified by the Land Rover Experience team with Steinmnchen), and the SVR's all-wheel drive also heaves the two-ton technology across deep cross grooves.

Above, in the small paraglider parking lot, just below the summit, the small fleet of a dozen F-Pace SVR gathers together. Time to take a look at the special features of the body after the extravagant driving experience with the 100,000-euro vehicle (especially Jaguar head designer Ian Calum as an expert available). The model developed by the Jaguar Land Rover SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) division sets itself apart from the other variants of the F-Pace family with its special SVR aerodynamics package.

These include larger air intakes in the front of the vehicle and, above all, the openings in the front wheel arch linings. Special front and Heckstofngern, deeper drawn side skirts and new roof spoiler provide better cooling, less buoyancy and air resistance and optimized directional stability.

Down the Mont Lachens it goes on the mentioned forest road, opportunity to test on the tight winding asphalt road the newly tuned chassis with firmer Dmpfern and front by 30 and rear ten percent increased spring rates.

Patience is the order of the day on the narrow Routes Departementales and National Road 202. Because here, along the Verdon and the Var, curve after curve, and on the few stretches, where a overtaking is possible, you may not cheat on the wide – and breakneck – lurching – Camions past. Especially since there are more uncomfortable "jobs" than the driver's seat of the F-Pace SVR.

In addition to the lush interior of the F-Pace, the SVR offers some delicacies, starting with the seats: they are slim and 14-way adjustable. The gear selector lever of the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and a heated leather sports steering wheel with SVR emblem and aluminum paddle shifters underline the sporty character of the model. A Wifi hotspot for up to eight external devices, the passengers are always "connected"; Also standard are the Touch Pro infotainment system with a 10-inch touchscreen and the 12.3-inch instrument display.

The valley of the Var widens and with it the possibility to try out the sprint and sprints of the SVR. The 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine of the F-Pace SVR delivers 550 hp – an increase of over 80 percent compared to the hitherto strongest models 30t and 30d with six-cylinder engine. With a maximum torque of 680 Newton meters, the SVR accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.3 seconds; the highest speed is 283 km / h.

The automatic transmission directs the power of the large gasoline engine with significant gear changes on both drive axles, the power distribution is variable depending on the road conditions and weather conditions. On dry roads the SVR is a pure rear-wheel drive.

These data already reveal that the F-Pace SVR is not a fuel-efficient model. It consumes 11.9 liters per 100 kilometers on average and CO2 emissions were calculated at 272 grams per kilometer.

For more difficult road conditions, there are a number of control systems available that have been specifically re-tuned for the SVR. Brand new in the series is an electronically active differential on the rear axle. The All Surface Progress Control traction control system and Adaptive Surface Response (similar to the Land Rover and Range Rover Terrain Response System) give the SVR a secure grip in all conceivable surfaces and weather conditions.

The Gelnde Jaguars approach Nice – where luxury cars are part of the street scene. Unmistakably plays the SVR in this league in front, with the competition from Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and from the house (Range Rover Sport SVR) comes. Exclusivity has its price: 100.100 Euro are the basic price in the price list and you can easily spend a few thousand for special requests.

When Skoda presents a new car, you should take a close look. Especially since there is no long-legged model for a long time, which sends the Czech Volkswagen subsidiary on the road. After the models Kodiaq and Karoq, which are well received by the customers, and the recently shown small SUV Kamiq, which will roll in mid-2019 to the dealers, now comes the Scala – a compact. No SUV, no crossover, but also no washable station wagon.

At the predecessor Rapid Skoda called the body shape still Spaceback, in contrast to the smaller Fabia Combi and the larger Octavia Combi. This unique selling point falls away at the Scala. The Scala is closer to the current Octavia gerckt, in the interior offers similar good or even identical values, such as legroom. Anyone sitting behind the seat set aside for an average driver will notice how much that is. Four adults can easily find a place without banging their heads or knees. And best of all, this space for passengers is not at the expense of the trunk. The lumps lush at the first car of the brand, which rolls on the small car group platform MQB-A0, on the example of the VW Polo is – and on this is a big deal. 467 liters fit in, with folded back even 1,410 – according to Skoda, he is thus the class leader.

Where the question arises, to which class it is to be assigned. With a vehicle length of 4,362 millimeters, the Scala, whose name comes from Latin and means ladder, but also mastab, is about ten centimeters longer than a Golf – and thus a class larger than the platform suggests. No matter if smaller or more compact – it offers plenty of space for money and thus has a very important Skoda virtue. Anyone who decides to use the fold-down passenger seat can invite 2.50-meter-long objects. Here fits a clear bar.

Another important Skoda virtue is an appealing design. Again, the Scala can be seen. The striking radiator grille is a bit more pronounced than in the previous models, also the curved clasp is also taken up in the interior design – the style element is found as a border of the large screen in the center console, which measures 9.2 inches. For a surcharge, a freely programmable digital display is available, it is 10.25 inches tall. Thanks to the two displays and the use of cleanly crafted plastic surfaces creates a neat look. With small highlights such as sports seats with integrated headrest, black headliner or panoramic glass roof, the Scala can be further aufhbschen. Then the starting price of 17,350 euros but pass. The applies only from summer and for the 1.0 TSI with 70 kW / 95 hp.

At the market launch on 18 May, the 1-liter three-cylinder with 85 kW / 115 hp will be available. There is also a 1.5 TSI with 110 kW / 150 hp and 7-speed DSG and a 1.6 TDI with 85 kW / 115 hp, either as a 6-speed manual switch or with the DSG. A 1.0G TEC for Clean Natural Gas (CNG) will follow in the fourth quarter of 2019.

During the test drive in Split and the environment of the 115-hp turbo gasoline engine must show what he can – about 28 percent will decide according to the Skoda forecasts in Germany for this engine variant. Six out of ten Scala drivers are expected to be traveling at mid-range Ambition, making a good decision. Because they find high-quality materials, comfortable and long-distance seats that offer proper lateral support, the already mentioned classroom space and an engine under the hood before, which is extremely revving with 200 Newton meters. That he works with only three pots, is heard only when starting, when the unit rumbled something. After that, it seems to go into a resting phase, it is round and quiet. And makes fun despite the manageable performance. If you are looking ahead and with some reserve, you can easily move the Scala with six liters of Super per 100 kilometers, with a bit of use probably even with less fuel.

The tested standard suspension variant is neither soft nor spongy, but rather taut. Optionally Skoda offers for the Scala an adaptive sports suspension and a bad road package with more ground clearance.

Of course, the Scala offers modern connectivity including USB-C ports and smartphone connectivity safety features such as a blind spot warner, which now perceives vehicles up to 70 meters away, up to nine airbags, an adaptive cruise control, up to 210 km / h is enough and LED lighting, on request also as a full-LED package. There are also "Simply Clever" solutions such as the well-known umbrella in the Trverkleidung and – new – an integrated funnel, which facilitates the filling of the disc cleaning system. And that is not window dressing. Even so you set Mastbe.

On May 7, 1990, the 45th-year Motor Information Service (mid) reported on the BMW 850i, a comfortable sports coupe and electronic toy.

Despite its 220 kW / 300 hp, the new BMW Sport Coupe 850i does not want to be a performance champion. BMW's press chief Richard Gaul sees the new 135,000-DM flagship of the white-blue automobile forge with the 750-liter, 5.0-liter twin-cylinder unit as the product of "progressive human resources management for frustrated engineers", who once show all this could not do what they usually do on large-scale vehicles.

Visually, the 1,841-kilogram technology carrier has remained a true BMW due to its high and powerful rear end and the typical front end. Compared to its predecessor, the 635 CSi, the new one comes with a slightly shorter length but larger width (1.86 meters). The subtle wedge shape of the vehicle receives an elegantly elongated look due to the missing B-pillar. Driving lights are provided by folding headlights. Parking lights, turn signals and flashers are housed in a narrow light strip above the front spoiler.

The sports coupe, equipped with a six-speed transmission, leaves little to be desired in terms of performance. The twelve-cylinder catapults the high-tech car from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds. In voluntary self-limitation, the power package is electronically limited at a maximum speed of 250 km / h. But even with respect to the elasticity of the engine does not disappoint and still accelerates zgig at relatively low speeds, even in high gears. With this elastic transmission design, one could almost do without the optional automatic transmission. Consumption is given in the third mix with 13 liters per 100 kilometers, but reaches almost 20 liters at speed. Thus, the 5-liter unit is not particularly easy to drink, even if it only requires lead-free normal.

When it comes to passive and active safety, the new BMW has a lot to offer: When starting off or cornering, an automatic stability control system (ASC + T) improves traction. Rapid steering movements offset the newly designed Integral rear axle. For a surcharge of 2,500 DM, there is a stability-enhancing intelligent suspension tuning, the Electronic Damping Control (EDC). It allows a harder or softer adjustment at the press of a button. However, subjectively, the different damping programs are only noticeable at high speeds, especially on a bad surface or during fast cornering. The anti-lock braking system from Bosch optimizes the work of delay. Especially with small technical details, the designers of the 850i have proven their competence. For example, closing the front side windows at 200 km / h and 200 km / h closing the sunroof as if by magic.

The 2 + 2-seater has a luggage compartment of at least 360 liters. For the holiday trip there is also the possibility to install a roof rack. The layout of the controls and displays emphasizes functionality and clarity: The driver receives the most essential information via the primary field of vision behind the steering wheel, while the center console, for example, houses the multi-information display. Classic elements such as the speed and speed indicators alternate with digital displays. The standard air conditioning is regulated by simple little wheels. The automatic pollutant control (AUC) detects an increasing pollutant load of the outside air and automatically closes the ventilation flaps.

A speed control system, the so-called cruise control, belongs to the standard equipment. Not all automatic functions are unproblematic. Thus, the electric control of the driver's seat simultaneously eliminates the adjustment of the steering wheel. However, the steering column can also be adjusted independently of the seat. The individual seating position can be entered into a memory memory, which is available for 840 DM as an option. A real drawback: the lowering of the front passenger seat only works in conjunction with a forward or backward movement of the seating position.

With the optional extras, the driven test car costs about 144,000 DM. But for real 850i enthusiasts or technology freaks, the price will not be an issue.

An SUV is suitable for those who prefer to take it easy, so the opinion of many. Meanwhile, most manufacturers have now also athletic offshoot their high-legged journeymen at the start. Honda now sends the H-RV Sport on the road. Does the SUV, which promises its geschichte optics?

The Honda HR-V is decidedly sporty. The look was trimmed with new slips and numerous high-gloss black parts such as side skirts and chrome buckles on the front and rear sports. In addition there is full LED light as standard. And the looks do not fumble: The roads around Lisbon invite you to begett the accelerator a bit more forcefully. Immediately the direct response of the new 1.5-liter VTEC turbo petrol pump is noticeable. Together with the revised suspension with the mechanical damper control "Synaptic Damping Control" (SDC), which ensures better handling. In addition, the HR-V Sport is equipped with special body dampers, which are also designed to provide more rigidity and driving stability – "Performance Damper" technology at Honda.

The manual six-speed transmission can be switched precisely and fits well with the sporty SUV. A little better than the ordinary 7-speed CVT transmission, which is to be purchased for 1,300 euros extra. Honda expects that 70 percent of German customers will opt for the handset.

With the 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine under the hood, which delivers 134 kW / 182 hp, HR-V drivers are well-equipped for all situations and for any route that focuses on driving pleasure and not on pure locomotion. Direct steering and the suspension, which offers a great compromise between comfort and streamlined design, are the right ingredients. All that is needed is the engine noise optimized by the sound generator, which is unpleasant at high speeds. The noise reduction with improvements, among others in the doors and the wheelhouses, in turn, has an effect: at 120 km / h on the motorway, the new one proves to be a flamer.

The interior is much less playful than you would expect from Honda. Anyone who chooses leather upholstery will get a black-and-red interior that suits the athletic demands. Plus points the Honda collects in material quality and processing. The Japanese carmaker has done a very good job here. Shortcoming is the GPS, which does not always perform its service satisfactorily. Here, Honda should rally the HR-V technically.

With 470 liters of luggage capacity with folded up and 1,103 liters with folded back seats, the HR-V is also without compromises long-distance and travel suitable. In addition, the "Magic Seats" are on board: so even bulky cargo can be stowed behind the front seats. How it works? The seats on the rear bench are completely foldable upwards and are locked there with one hand. The consumption of 7.9 liters in brisk gait on winding and mountainous country roads and a short trip on the highway is not objectionable. With Migung can certainly easily save 1.0 to 1.5 liters. But do you want to be in a sporty SUV? The new HR-V Sport does not make it easy.

The Fiat 500 is the epitome of a small, cuddly car. Something like a gag-ball for generations. This Italian is out and about on the streets as a punk. Is it really possible to turn this cult object into a bad wolf? Yes, you can! You just change the name – and then the Fiat 500 is a transformation artist who has it fist thick under the small hood.

As Abarth 595 Competizione, he puts on his grim mask and shows with loud howls his teeth: of course, only figuratively spoken. This Tifosi is a fire-red spam mobile, which the engineers and designers have relished. You really have to get used to the daily traffic, otherwise you'll soon be able to negotiate with these poison dwarfs the well-known horses, as shown in the test drive of the Motor-Information-Service (mid).

The pure performance data initially assume nothing special. Let's face it: with 132kW / 180hp, many other small cars are already entering the ring today. It's great fun: in the first three gears, the Abarth 595 Competizione, with a maximum torque of 250 Newton meters, makes it a real pleasure for ambitious motorists. That's where the real racing feeling comes from. The heart opens and one craves for more.

But the acceleration orgy (6.7 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h) is over pretty quickly. Unfortunately. Because from Tempo 140/150 this dwarf runs out of steam, which does not seem surprising at a displacement of almost 1.4 liters. The four-cylinder engine is doing at the further Vorwrtsdrang but noticeably difficult. Only after a felt eternity, the specified maximum speed of 225 km / h is reached. Since acts then the loud kick, which organize the four tailpipes in sports mode, slightly exaggerated.

One thing is certain: The small Abarth 595 Competizione is very thirsty. After all, anyone who buys such a spam mobile wants to retrieve the available service as often as possible. And then the consumption already breaks the 14-liter mark; with a small tank of 35 liters you will soon be regular at the gas station. Sure: You can reduce the consumption to seven to eight liters of gasoline, but then you should constantly cruising at pace 120 on the highway. Only: Who wants to buy, no such Rennsemmel, but rather a very civil Fiat 500.

Let's get to the interior. Carbon elements, Alcantara steering wheel, aluminum gear knob, multimedia navigation system with touch display – everything is sporty, quite well made and up to date. Disadvantage: The seating position is too high. As a driver, you feel like the monkey on the famous whetstone. This is very much in need of attention and anything but athletic or sexy.

Conclusion: The Abarth 595 Competizione is a Spamobil. Especially on winding country roads, he is in his element. But the Fahrspa has its price: At least 25,690 euros have to beblttern customers for the poison dwarf. For the same money there is already a VW Polo GTI – with lively 200 hp under the hood.
